I have emotions! It’s not all abraca-fuck-you and what have you. I have a beating heart! I’m multi-dimensional! I’m a fully-realized creation! FUCK!
@vero-valzer as Taako the Wizard from The Adventure Zone
Realized Tumblr and its smol but rad and dedicated TAZ Fandom might be the right place to share my Taako cosplay that I'm proud of and really enjoy wearing. 🌂✨️💖
These pics span multiple years and multiple outings, featuring a few different iterations on this cosplay at this point—from conventions to Ren Faires.
It has filled my heart with glee every time I heard someone gasp and go, "Is that Taako? From T.V.?!" which gave me the opportunity to spin around and say, "Why, yeeeeeees~! ✨️" in my best Taako impression or give a tip-o'-the-hat and wave and get to see people's eyes light up and smiles spread across their faces. 💖

Morantic: Better luck next time. (1)
Bruce Wayne/Batman x Female Reader.
Inspired by "There is no good or bad, just actions".
⚠️: This chapter does not include anything NSFW, however the next chapters will include graphic content. MDNI, dub-con, violence, stalking, obsessive love disorder, eventual smut.

You stared at the window, seeing your town slowly go tinier and disappear as you went into unknown territory. Your hands nervously played with themselves, picking at your skin as the train softly moved, the occasional sound of someone coughing or someone with their phone wathing videos being the only things distracting you.
Searching in your bag, you took out your printed curriculum, such a simple paper yet it included so much from you: your full name, capacities, where you studied, etc. Your parents had made sure you never missed a single class, even in university. They had made sure to give you the best tutors; without them, you'd never have been as prepared as you were today, and now your biggest test was about to begin. Gotham. A city with no laws, filled by sin and corruption, where the strongest survived and the weakest died with no mercy.
But you were here to make a change—you knew you had it in you.
As you drifted off thinking, you slowly closed your eyes, falling asleep as the day outside became darker 'til night arrived. A few hours later, the train stopped.
(...)
You walked to your new apartment, your low heels clicking against the dirty floor as you struggled to carry your heavy suitcase, filled with clothes and books. Opening the door, you felt the smell of moisture on the walls and dirty feet. You had some work to do; after all, this was your new home. The hours passed as you cleaned, your limbs aching as you made sure that no room smelt like shit, successfully making it look somewhat hygienic; you still had to buy furniture and some food; your stomach aching in hunger—outside the morning was arriving, the first rays of sun coloring the grim city, making you give a small smile—your first day here.
To no one's surprise, getting outside was awful. On your way to a furniture store, you saw homeless people eating rats all the way to someone being stabbed in an alley. But as you bought a simple bed (king-sized; you were a messy sleeper), some stuff for the kitchen, and a couch, you went to buy something to eat. On the way to it, you stopped at a drug store, buying a first aid kit since you never knew when you'd need it.
Going back home with a warm meal in a plastic bag and the other one filled with supplies, you arrived at your apartment. You looked at the hour, 3 PM; the furniture was supposed to arrive at 5 PM, so you had some time to kill.
Sitting down to eat as you watched Youtube on your phone, then you took a nap on the hard floor, the hours of no sleep taking a poll on you, and even if it was short and uncomfortable, that nap helped as you now felt ready to keep cleaning. A few minutes later, your doorbell rang; the furnite had arrived.
As the men let the boxes inside, you began decorating the place with the new stuff—the couch next to the window, the bed in the side room, etc.—and soon enough, it was 9 PM. Feeling your stomach growl as you felt hungry, you called for some Chinese takeout. Probably half an hour passed as you were called by the delivery man, and going down to the first floor, you picked it up, paid, and went up—except you heard something on the fire exit stairs, as if someone had collapsed on them.
Peeking your head out of the window, you saw someone in what seemed like full black armor slumped against the metal stairs outside your room, a puddle of blood running down his armor.
Groaning, you thought of your chances—you had heard something about this "vigilante" everyone called Batman, your guess being that this was him, or perhaps it was some sort of comic villain that once you healed him would gut you like fish. But your morals won the fight, and you decided to climb out of your window and drag him inside your home. It wasn't easy; he weighted a shit ton and was leaving a bloody mess as you dragged him through your floor. You laid him down on your couch, quickly taking off his chest plate to see how deep his wound was. And holy sh*t, were you met with a nice view, a nice, toned torso, pale skin covered by different scars, and soft skin to the touch? You had to take a deep breath as you collected your thoughts and went to heal him up.
It probably took you about an hour and a half to stitch his wound, clean the blood, etc. Your eyes tired as you yawned, feeling proud of your little work. Moving to discard the bloody gloves, you went outside for a smoke break, hoping the stranger would wake up and lean by himself so you'd avoid the uncomfortable moment of being like, "Hey, I sort of practiced my doctor skills on your unconscious body!" Yeah, that'd be too awful.
Thankfully for you, as you were on the metal staircase smoking, the man inside woke up, his senses being on high alert as his last memory was being stabbed on the chest, his eyes frantically moving around the room, only to find first aid kits and some boxes filled with house stuff. Seeing your shape outside the window as you smoked, he took the chance to slip out of the front door without making a single sound.

Welcome to Madam Brawn's Crime School for Delinquent Girls
A review of Plastic Man's story in Police Comics #4 (1941) by Jack Cole
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've been working my way through Plastic Man's early comics, and this was the first one that stood out to me. The story had my attention from the beginning for the early introduced character of Madam Brawn is just so magnetic, her morals so complex, her ways so compelling. She runs her school for delinquent girls, accepting women fresh out of prison with nowhere else to go.
Things were hard enough for male ex-cons, I can only imagine the stigma women had to face after getting out of prison in the 1940s. In Madam Brawn's school they must go through intense physical training and practice shooting (using cop manequins as targets), the group is also forbidden to smoke, only Brawn is allowed that.
Tumblr media
However, there is a price for Brawn's protection and the day her group of women "graduated" from her teachings, Madam Brawn sent two of her "dames" to take over the protection racket going on in the city nearby. She was so confident in her training only two women were necessary for the take over, and they succeed, sending a message to Lefty, the leader of the rival gang.
This is still pretty early in the story and, noting Plastic Man's overall absence of it, I felt myself rooting for Madam Brawn's gang of delinquent women, and I think that is the intention of the writer and artist, Jack Cole. Later in comic book history this kind of sympathetic criminals would not be possible anymore, that's one of the reasons the golden age has such a different tone, when the Comics Code Authority censorship was established it changed everything, a context that makes this story even more interesting.
Tumblr media
Brawn's gang had to face the consequences of their takeover and later that day the whole rival gang went to Brawn's farm, even their leader, Lefty, tagged along to threaten her in person with a pistol. Brawn's response to that came very naturally: she broke his arm and sent her dane dogs after the rest of the gang. They fled, but Lefty's pride was injured.
I love how Jack Cole portrays the movements in his panels, there's a dynamic flow to his art that makes the action in the comic stand out, which combined with his talent for drawing face expressions and gestures, makes it for a very fluid reading experience.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And that's where Plastic Man comes in! All this time Plas was infiltrated in Lefty's gang in his criminal persona, Eel O'brian. At this point in continuity he is an undercover cop while also maintaining his criminal connections, a double agent of sorts. He was hanging with Lefty's men and keeping an eye on this gang war situation, that was until Lefty proposed to invade Madam Brawn's farm with WAR TANKS. Escalating things in an insane proportion. Where did he find war tanks? Brawn only broke his arm... what a sensitive pride Lefty must have had.
So Plas goes straight to Brawn's farm to warn her and her gang of the danger they're facing, their response is to torture Plastic Man and have much fun while doing it. Meanwhile Brawn prepares for war, quite literally, she had an arsenal of guns and what I believe were grenades in her farm. Good for her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Ain't had so much fun since I poisoned granma!"
This is no morally ambiguous group of women, they are unapologetic vicious and I love them for it. Especially thinking how it must have been for their community to develop in that farm and how accepting they must have learned to be of one another in order to live and thrive together.
That being said, they basically kill every single one of the goons that tried to invade Madam Brawn's property, including the leader Lefty, that must've been so upset about being hit by Brawn that he could not resist the temptation to destroy her place himself.
After things calm down it's time for Madam Brawn vs. Plastic man, and she's really not a suitable opponent for him, at least without the rest of her gang. She loses the one-sided fight against Plas, who let's her go free despite several murders she and her delinquent girls perpetrated that night, all in self-defense so it's cool, different times you know?
Tumblr media
I loved this little tale of female empowerment and gang war, it was an unexpected story for sure and even though Madam Brawn's gang of delinquent girls was very obviously not heroic, they were not really portrayed as absolute villains either. They train and seem very professional and prepared compared to Lefty's gang, the men are only shown playing cards and drinking.
I'm aware Madam Brawn is possibly more appealing to modern audiences than in her own time, however I do wonder if the public was not even a little charmed by this female gang leader even back then, she got another story in the sequence (I'll make sure to check that out), but sadly those were Madam Brawn's only two appearances. She remains an obscure oddity and the reason I decided to write this, thanks for reading!

This is kinda a repost of something I made last year but I wanted to post it on here because I still think it's really cool!
So I started cosplaying at comic cons since 2022 and what I do is cosplay as the same character twice but on the second time I try to improve the cosplay some way or another. And the first character I cosplayed as was Riddler! (I only went to one comic con in 2022)
So for my second time cosplaying I wanted to improve my costume, during this I decided to work with my grandpa to make a replica of Arkham City/ Knight Riddler's cane. I created the design schematics (I don't have them anymore, my grandpa kept them) and I also painted it. My Grandpa did the woodworking.
Below is a full view, sorry for the poor quality
Tumblr media
Some interesting facts about this prop, only the question mark is made of wood the rest of the cane was made out of metal and plastic, which made me afraid to actually take it to comic con because I wasn't sure if it counted as a weapon (I did check the cosplay rules and I was still confused.) Another fact about this prop, I can make it shorter or taller if I wanted to so it can be an Riddler themed staff or wand. The metal pole was originally from a broomstick where you can screw on the brush. This was my first time using spray paint as well (I used silver acrylic).

Started on this piece during Plastic City Comic Con; finished it this evening while listening to Johnny Cash and trying to process the events of a truly tumultuous week. Y'know, I wouldn't mind living in precedented times, once in a while...

cosplay plans for the next 6-12 months
Rose City Comic Con is in 6 months, and next ECCC is 12 months away, so here's the stuff I have planned for the next year. A bunch of repairs and improvements, one old project that I still want to finish, and two (related) new projects that I just came up with in the last day or two.
Repairs & Improvements
Star Lord armour: - Test magnets as the new armour-to-bodysuit attachment method. - Assuming the magnets work, install a whole lotta magnets. - Replace/Repair the shoulder clip that's missing half the clip. - Super glue the velcro to the head piece. - Adjust boots to fit over running shoes. (And you thought the two boot adjustments I've done were the end of it! LOL.)
Paladin armour: - Figure out how to fix up the shoulders. (I could just adjust the positioning of the left one, but I'm considering permanently attaching the superstructure to the substructure. The only problem with that is that they will take up roughly 3x as much space in my luggage at a result, so I have to ponder.) - Put a clear coat on all the armour parts. - Repair the chipped paint on the shoe armour. - Install rubber/foam edges on the leg armour to hopefully prevent further shoe armour damage. - Add moar magnets to the flames so that they stay on better. - Make a mechanical attachment for the belt piece (the magnets work, but fall off way too easy--I'll relax more wearing it if its more secure).
Green Lantern - Eventually, remake the boots. Again. Don't get me wrong, I think they turned out well given the rush, but I can do better. - Replace the gloves. They're getting a bit tattered. - Possibly remake the pants. Honestly, they're too small. I can squeeze into them, but they kind of... slide down during the day. But if I'm really lucky, by the time I get around to doing this, it won't be necessary anymore. (Unlikely, but hey, you never know.)
In Progress (generalized points, as this is a long term project and I don't see the point of listing every tiny step separately at this stage)
Tron armour: - Finish making the helmet. - Probably re-make the bottom part of the boots. I can't recall which shoe I made it for. - Test the fit of the rest of the armour and adjust as needed. (I've gained weight since making it originally.) - Figure out the attachments. Never did get these working to my satisfaction, although I have a vague memory of what I planned to try after attempt #1 failed. - Determine amount of EL wire needed for the lighting / Figure out EL wire mounting strategy. Order & Install EL wire. - Make the undersuit. - Figure out how not to die of heat exhaustion while wearing a full body vinyl undersuit and a a near full body armour, including helmet, made out of layers of plastic and foam and absolutely covered in lighting.
New Projects (generalized as above)
Project #1: Captain Marvel leather jacket. Yes, I know people sell various versions. No, I don't like any of those enough to buy them. My sewing skills are very limited, so this will be a long term project involving a lot of test/learning stages.
Project #2: Captain Marvel armour. Yes, I like the design enough to make this sucker twice in two different styles. The armour would be EVA foam, not worbla. I've never worked in EVA foam before, but I've worked with other types of foam, and I've done armour generally. I still expect a learning curve, but I'm much more comfortable with this project than with Project #1.

Dipping our toe back into the comic-con scene. Starting small, but if you're around, come say hi!

I have quite a backlog of photos from comic conventions last year to share! These are from Springfield Comic Con, which was a few weeks before my wedding. I had excellent luck and was assigned a corner table!
Relative to the size of the venue, I have never seen such a full convention. The line stretched around the building before the doors opened, and at several points there were announcements via intercom saying the venue was at full capacity and could not accept any more people until others left. It wasn’t a small venue; it was about the size of an indoor sports arena.
Springfield Comic Con happened during the middle of a horrible heat wave. The temperature reached nearly 100 degrees! It was so scorching that when I was loading up my car (thankfully in the late afternoon/evening,) my shoes stuck to the pavement!
Afterward, I drove to The Place 2 Be, a restaurant with a, for lack of a better description, distinctive aesthetic in the Basketball Hall of Fame. They had a small bathtub filled with gold and black plastic balls (like the kind found in a ball pit,) oddly labeled bathrooms even by today's standards (I had to guess which one to use, and luckily I was the only person in there) and bathtub shaped bowl drinks, amongst other things. From there I drove to the MGM Casino and spent some time there. I’m glad Springfield Comic Con happened on a Saturday, because I left the city around 9 PM and had a 2+ hour drive home!

22/7
Today I’m meeting with Sienna at 9am at flinders street, I was too tired last night to have a shower so I did that this morning. That shower was devine, I wish I could somehow take it with me. Breakfast was included with whatever Sienna is planning today so when I left at a little after 8 I found out that the tram ride yesterday was actually much closer as I thought it was. So I was way too early. Meeting Sienna was so fun, we have been talking in the Dean Lewis group chat since 2019 so meeting her was surreal. She took me to an alleyway that’s especially for graffiti art. It was so fun to see, basically everywhere I’ve been so far they all have art on the side of their buildings, it’s so much nicer as just blank walls. We had breakfast in a very cute tiny road/alleyway that only had cafes with tables in between them. I have never had so many avocados in my life. They are in everything over here and Sienna was surprised to hear they cost quite a lot at home. I talked about the play last night and she had actually never realised all theatre is with an American accent, she didn’t knew why either. I am so curious about it though. We wandered around Melbourne and went to art gallery first, most of it is free and it still blows my mind. The state library was so amazing to see as well, it’s one of the older buildings and it was really pretty. We went up all the way to the top where you could watch over the entire ground floor. They have different “rooms” surrounding the main one that’s all dedicated to something else. They even had a child daycare room. There also was the entire building build out of LEGO and we jokingly send a pigeon picture to Bea (she’s scared of real birds but plastic ones are fine)

The next stop was and arcade hall, they have tons of them here, and in my head it would be like game arcades, it definitely wasn’t that. It was little buildings that had all kind of shops in them and had aircon, which makes sense with how warm it gets here. Today is a brilliant day with sun and 17 degrees and I had long since shed my coat and even though Sienna still found it cold she was very happy that we had such a good day as well. I was saying that I was surprised about the amount of sushi places I’d seen already so we ended up eating sushi. There was a surprise tour after lunch, it was the royal exhibition building. It’s one of the oldest buildings in Melbourne that was build on a hill overlooking the city. I hadn’t really realised it was a hill until we were standing in the rooftop overlooking the city. It was really cool! It was build in the late 1800s and it’s still being used to this day. They have university exams, comic con and all kind of events there still. It was even the covid vaccination centre during the pandemic. Our next stop was sea life, which I was really excited about since I had actually planned to go there with Andrew but due to time restrictions we didn’t. We had to get back to the other side of town and were running a wee bit late so ended up getting an Uber. Sea life had 15 spaces dedicated to different animals and areas. They also had ton of photo opportunities and we had great fun doing them all. The beginning were all jellyfish and all kinds of fish, we were going down and ended up underneath a gigantic aquarium. There were really big turtles, sharks and all kind of other fish I don’t even remember the name off. There was a big circular room where the ocean waves were projected on the floor. The big turtle swam by and we lost it for a second, it swam to the other side and both of us squealed and ran after it like we were 5. We stood there laughing like idiots. The rainforest was next and there was a big glass floor and we stood there staring for a bit, neither of us seeing what was actually in it. When we did see it, it was something out of Jurassic park. There was a MASSIVE crocodile in there, and by massive I mean this literally. That thing was at least 5m if not more. It was by far the biggest crocodile I’ve ever seen. When we were nearly done they announced that all visitors should make their way to the exit, we were sad we didn’t get to see the pinguïns and were pleasantly surprised when they were the last thing. They are so cute, yes yes I know also cunts but cute to look at. We had dinner reservations at 6:30pm so we went to have a look at the casino. Sienna had to show her ID everytime and I was really amused by it. She found the bar so pretty that I dragged her to have a drink there since we had plenty of time.
